Why Every Mom Needs a Solo Mom Vacation (Disney Edition!)
Solo Mom Vacation: A Mother’s Day I’ll Never Forget
This year for Mother’s Day, I did something I’ve never done before—I took a solo mom vacation! After a wild few months, I needed a break to reset and recharge. Since most of our family is in Florida and we still have our Disney Annual Passes, Orlando felt like the perfect getaway. Taking a solo mom Disney trip was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself.
I flew down and stayed with my sister-in-law—and let me tell you, we did TWO FULL DAYS at the parks. No exaggeration. Between the walking, the weather, and the magic, I think we covered 15–20 miles in just two days. It was an accidental workout, but also so much fun.

Saturday Night – Disney Springs
I arrived Saturday afternoon, where my cousin scooped me up from the airport and we headed straight to Disney Springs. We hadn’t had one-on-one time like that in years, and it truly filled my cup. It got me so excited for summer—especially since we’ll be in Florida for most of it. I plan to soak up every moment with family.
We wandered in and out of the shops, checked out the new merch, and I gave her the grand tour since she hadn’t been to Disney Springs in forever. Yes, it rained (of course), but honestly? I didn’t care. I was away and with family. And that alone felt like sunshine.
We had dinner at The Boathouse where I tried the shrimp and grits—something I wouldn’t normally order, but wow, it was so good. Bonus: I used my annual pass for a discount. We love a little savings.
Sunday – Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day kicked off bright and early with a yoga class at Disney Springs. My sister-in-law swore it would be light stretching. Spoiler: it was not. The instructor had us doing moves I didn’t even know were humanly possible. We laughed through most of it, which honestly made it even better. It was the perfect warm-up for the miles of walking that came next.
After class, we stopped by the Little Words Project booth. I wanted to make a custom bracelet but ended up finding the exact phrase I had in mind—already made, in colors I loved. So, I grabbed that one and a “Mama” bracelet, because… I mean, of course.
With bracelets on and Starbucks in hand, we headed to Hollywood Studios. We explored a bit and saved Fantasmic for later that night (it was my first time seeing it!). Then we took the Skyliner over to EPCOT, where we spent most of the day. We ate, strolled, shopped, rode rides, and yes—danced in the rain with our ponchos on. No complaints.

Monday – Magic Kingdom
Monday was all about Magic Kingdom. It was raining again (classic Florida), but I kept a good attitude and made the most of it. I got my Dole Whip, watched some shows, rode a few rides, and soaked in all the magic.
I love experiencing Disney with my kids—but I’ve got to say, going adults-only? So relaxing. It’s a whole different kind of fun, and I highly recommend it.

Solo Mom Vacation Recap: Magic, Miles & Mama Time
Tuesday came way too fast. After breakfast, I headed to the airport, feeling refreshed and full of joy.
I truly believe every mom needs a break sometimes. We carry so much—physically, emotionally, mentally—and rarely put ourselves first. While I believe moms are called to serve their families, I also believe it’s okay (and necessary) to step away for rest.
I’m so thankful for this trip, and honestly? My husband was amazing. He’d been encouraging me to take a solo trip for a while. I made sure to prep him as best as I could—this was his first time solo parenting for more than a few hours—and he handled it like a champ. Our community showed up too, with friends inviting him and the kids over for dinner and checking in on them.
And hearing him say, “Babe, I don’t know how you do this. I honor you,” made me feel so seen. That moment alone was worth the whole trip.
I’ll be linking the outfits I wore during the trip and sharing a packing list for a solo Disney day in an upcoming post. Should I do a family version too? Let me know below!
