Welcome to a New Chapter: Why I’m Done Fitting Into a Box
It’s been an interesting year so far on this mom lifestyle blog — and I have a lot to catch you up on.
At the beginning of the year I decided to go all in with my blog. I redid my website, wrote a bunch of blog posts, launched them, worked on Pinterest pins — all of the things. Then in June I started working on my social media more. It felt like the right time since I had built up a good consistency with the blog.
Over the summer things kind of shifted. I didn’t write at all. I focused on social media because that felt easier, and honestly more fun. I spent the whole summer in Florida with my kids, went to Disney three to five times a week, recorded when I could since it’s not always easy with kids around, and posted when I wanted to. I didn’t let any kind of schedule dictate what I put out. It was freeing. It was fun.
Now that I’m back home in New Jersey, the content isn’t coming as easily. In Florida I had Disney — built-in magic, built-in content. But now that I’m home it feels like the content has to center around me, and honestly? I’ve been struggling with the idea that I’m not that interesting. Not that I think I’m boring exactly — I just have a hard time figuring out what to say when the backdrop is just my regular life.
So I’ve been sitting with that. And I want to share where I landed.
The Honest Truth About This Mom Lifestyle Blog
When I think about what I actually want from social media, I’ll be straight with you — I want to make money. I want to make money in unconventional ways that fit my actual life. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with saying that out loud.
But let me back up a little, because I think the context matters.
I worked retail in college. That job alone broke me out of my shell completely. I was the girl who had a genuinely hard time talking to people I didn’t know. My boss literally walked up to me one day and told me that if I didn’t start engaging with customers I would lose my job. I really needed that job — so I did it. And then I kept doing it. I ended up staying for five or six years, finished college while working there, and after I graduated I transferred to another location to help open a new store and became a Senior Assistant Manager.
I loved it. Hated the hours, but I loved retail. Turns out I loved helping people figure out what jewelry worked with their outfit, or picking out the perfect look for someone going on a date. I handled all the admin, the training, the visual merchandising. Putting outfits together felt so creative and fun — I was genuinely good at it and I knew it.
But even there, I still felt like I hadn’t hit it. Like there was something I was reaching for that I hadn’t found yet.
I went to school for Music Business and got my master’s in Worship Studies. For a few years I was a full-time Worship Director — something I loved deeply. When I started having kids I stepped back to part-time so I could be home with them. That was a tough season, but that’s a story for another day.

And Now I’m Here
Now I’m a stay-at-home mom to three beautiful kids. I’m homeschooling them. And if I’m being completely honest, the Megan from ten years ago would have laughed in your face at both of those things. But I’m genuinely excited for this journey. And for the first time in a long time, I actually feel content.
My content is just my life. Sharing my experiences — the homeschool journey as we figure it out week by week, my health journey and healing my diastasis recti, finding my personal style again as a mom in her mid-thirties. Figuring it all out in real time.
I love my family. I love Jesus. I love Disney. I love home décor. I love helping people. I love systems. And the more I sit with all of that, the more I realize I just want to share more of what I actually love — not to fit into some kind of box, but to show that as women, as moms, we can be multifaceted. We can be good at a lot of different things and that’s not a problem to be solved.
For a long time social media felt like you had to pick one lane and stay in it forever. And for me that became extremely boring extremely fast. So I’m changing that. Because yes — I want to make money doing this. I won’t pretend otherwise. But I also want to genuinely enjoy the process. I want to have fun. I want this to feel like mine.
So welcome to this new chapter of Megan. I’m a wife, a mom, and I love a whole lot of things. I hope you stick around for what’s coming. I hope I encourage you somewhere along the way — or at the very least become your new comfort creator. Either way, I’m glad you’re here.
K, bye. 🤍
