Losing Yourself in Motherhood… and Finding You Again
Not sure how it happened… It just did.
One day, I looked up and realized I had lost myself. But then something crazy happened—I found myself again. And this time, with more love. Not just for myself, but for this life God has blessed me with.
When I say it’s easy to lose yourself in motherhood, I mean easy, momma. That was me for the last five years. I convinced myself that if I spent time doing things I loved, it somehow made me a bad mom. That prioritizing anything outside of my kids was selfish.
It took me five years to realize that was the furthest thing from the truth.

Losing Yourself in Motherhood Doesn’t Have to Be the End
Now, I won’t sit here and say it doesn’t take balance (and I use that word lightly). But I will say this—it’s possible to hold onto who you are while being an incredible mom.
I used to believe that having hobbies, taking breaks, or even just enjoying time away from my kids meant I wasn’t doing enough. That I wasn’t present enough. That I wasn’t mom enough.
But you know what? It’s actually the opposite.
Giving myself permission to step away—even if it’s just 15 minutes of playing Nintendo, reading a chapter of a book, or going for a solo Target run—has made me a better mom. A more patient, present, and joyful mom.
Rediscovering Yourself
This isn’t a long, drawn-out post. I just want to encourage you, whether you’re a new mom or have been at this for years—take time for yourself.
If you’ve pushed aside hobbies or forgotten the things that once brought you joy, bring them back. Let yourself enjoy the things that make you you.
Losing yourself in motherhood is easy, but God didn’t create you to be just a mom. He created you to be a multifaceted woman, filled with passions, creativity, and purpose beyond motherhood. And that? That is something worth rediscovering.
Current Hobbies
Currently, I’m reading through 2 books. Not very well I might add, it’s been a few days since I’ve read due to sickness. But I’m challenging myself to do a chapter a day in each and I love starting my day like that! I’m currently reading, “Worship Is A Verb” and “Psychology of Money.” Very different but I love having 2 books that are so contrasting.
Also, of course, I’m loving time playing my Nintendo Switch! I used to play video games as a kid but stopped as I got older. But I decided this year, I’m going to get back into them. I love playing “cozy” games, games that aren’t so intense so that it’s calming for me. I’m loving Disney Dreamlight Village and Animal Crossing.
