Chronicles of a Stay-at-Home Mom

Episode 1
Welcome to episode 1 of: Chronicles of a Stay-at-Home Mom! Today marks the first day that I’m fully a stay at home mom. When I say that I really mean a stay at home that no longer works. It’s a weird thing to even say because years ago if you would’ve asked me if this would be my future I would’ve laughed in your face! lol. Mainly because I never really saw myself having kids in general. Not because I didn’t want them, but because I didn’t really think I’d be a good mother. I guess I didn’t have confidence in myself in that area. I wanted to focus on my education and getting a good job first. Then MAYBE think about settling down and having a family. But God had other plans for me. And I’m happy with it.
Transitions
It’s still hard to wrap my head around the fact that I don’t have a typical job. It took me a long time to accept that being a full time mom/stay at home mom, whatever you want to call it, IS a full time job. While it may not bring in a ton of extra income, it’s still a lot of work. It’s also hard for me because I’m used to working. I love working! But I think as time went on, I became a workaholic. Work became my identity. It wasn’t healthy. It isn’t healthy to have that as your identity. And though this wasn’t 100% my choice in the way things ended up, I firmly believe that this is what God wants for me. I think the Lord is trying to get me to focus more on my family and on Him. While I do have some ideas on what I want to do, this time around, I’m taking it slow. Praying through everything. Asking the Lord to open my eyes and my ears to what His will is. Not just for me, but for my family. The last thing that I want is to pursue something at the risk of my family. This transition has been going on for the last 5 years really. At last mentally. The Lord has been breaking down those thoughts within me and to this day, I can say I’m grateful. I’m grateful that I realize my identity isn’t rooted in what I do. My identity is rooted in Christ.
Chronicles of a Stay-at-Home Mom – Why?
The last few days I’ve really been thinking about what I would do with all this time I would have on my hands. I mean, how much time does a mom really have? Lol. But one thing came to my mind, writing. I have to be completely honest, I’m not the best speaker so you may not get a ton of vlogs from me in the future. But I LOVE writing. And this morning while I was unpacking from our trip the name “Chronicles Of A Stay At Home Mom” came to my mind. And I just thought what a great idea for me to start this. To have something where I can document what is happening within my heart, mind and life. And to document what the Lord is doing. My hope and prayer is that in some way this series blesses you. I hope to inspire you to also believe your true identity is within Christ and Christ alone. And to give you some insight on how you can draw closer to Him.
So, here we have it. Episode 1 of Chronicles Of A Stay At Home Mom. Very simple and basic. I’m not sure that this will be a daily thing. It could be or it could be weekly.
